Smoke Domes (2010-12)
These works were created using fireworks to “blow” glass by inserting Smoke Bombs into the molten material, which then expanded with each mini-explosion. The form was blown by the fireworks by controlled by Fiore using a technique developed for the process.
Exploratory works for this series were begun at Hotsands Glass Studio, Asbury Park, NJ in 2010-11 and refined in collaboration with Jack Wax, graduate and undergraduate students from VCU’s glass program during a visit to the Craft/Material Studies Department in 2012.
Works from this series were exhibited in "Fireworks", The Anderson Gallery/VCUarts, Richmond, VA, 2012.
